25 Tattoo Artists Whose Work You Can Recognize Without Their Name Attached

There are thousands of talented tattoo artists these days, and so many of them that have created a style completely  their own, and who have their own sort of “niche.” It was hard to choose, but I narrowed it down to 25 incredible artists whose work is  recognizable without having to see a name attached.

 

1.)  Artist: Stefano Alcantera (@stefanoalcantara)

Tell-Tale Signs/Known For: Often uses squiggly lines in a somehow organized and beautiful way. Captures photos to appear almost “silver”, and is an elite freehand artist as well (uses stencils a lot also). One of the games most respected artists for quite some time.

2.)  Artist: Carlos Torres (@carlostorresart)

Tell-Tale Signs/Known For: Arguably the best black and grey artist in the world, known for his incredible/intricate layouts and original designs, often as back pieces. Many artists biggest inspiration.

3.)  Artist: Jak Connolly (@jakconnollyart)

Tell-Tale Signs/Known For: Loves using women as his subject matter as he says there is nothing more beautiful than the face of a woman. He is incredible at coming up with original concepts. Loves to do morphs with women and animals as well as skulls.

4.)  Artist: Dmitriy Samohin (@dmitriysamohin)

Tell-Tale Signs/Known For: Arguably the best color realism artist in the world. His hyper realism is said to look like a photograph in person. He uses very detailed and unique references. He is also said to be a class act, extremely kind/humble/hardworking guy. He is on practically every serious tattoo collectors bucket list.

5.)  Artist: Luke Palan (@lukepalantattoo)

Tell-Tale Signs/Known For: Arguably the best freehander in the game right now. His mind blows me away and many artists describe him as a “wizard.”  I can’t begin to comprehend how he comes up with what he does and how he is able to execute so amazingly off the top of his brain almost always with no reference. His photos of his work (often a side by side of his original freehand sketch on the skin with red Sharpie n the left and the final tattooed product on the right) are awesome but don’t even begin to do his work justice- seeing it in person will blow your mind. The way his greys settle and age with the skin is gorgeous.

6.)   Artist: Nikko Hurtado (@nikkohurtado)

Tell-Tale Signs/Known For: Arguably the best artist in the world. Artists will describe his work as “Perfect” when seeing it in person. His work is described as looking like a photograph. He is a perfectionist and takes his time on everything and pours his heart and soul into his work. He is an extremely grounded and humble artist and human being and is anything but complacent. Many artists biggest inspiration.

Tell-Tale Signs/Known For: Flowers that look like literal high quality photographs. Great at portraits as well. Lots of humility. Hard working guy. Incredible at portraits as well.

8.)  Artist: Kyle Cotterman (@kylecotterman)

Tell-Tale Signs/Known For: Hyper surrealism. Honest no b/s photographs that still look absolutely gorgeous. Only tattoos a couple days a week so he can keep his mind fresh and his creativity as sharp as can be.

9.)  Artist: Ben Kaye (@dbkaye)

Tell-Tale Signs/Known For: Realism that is picture perfect. Loves large scale stuff and his work heals flawlessly. He is arguably the most improved artist over the last few years and is just as good as anyone at color realism right now. His social media content is so incredible you wouldn’t dare scroll past without examining closely, and your jaw will most likely drop to your screen every time you see his posts.

Tell-Tale Signs/Known For: Realism mixed with surrealism. Loves to do black and grey pieces with strategically placed splashes of color that fit in perfectly.

Tell-Tale Signs/Known For: Hyper color realism. He has gone viral a countless amount of times often for his photograph quality pieces, and many of them being NBA/athlete portraits.
