I played basketball the majority of my life… it was my passion for as long as I can remember up until I was maybe 17 or 18 years old. I thought hoops was my future, and loved it whole heartedly for years. I played some club ball throughout middle school and high school, but got cut from every single school team I ever tried out for- maybe because of politics, maybe because I wasn’t tall enough, maybe because I just wasnt good enough, who knows.
All I know for sure is that apparently basketball just wasn’t in God’s plan for me. I thank God often because shortly after closing that door, he opened the door of Lead The Followers instead which has given me fulfillment.
It’s crazy how sometimes what YOU want for you isn’t at all what GOD wants/has in mind for you. Sometimes I just think about different situations that I wanted a certain outcome for, but things didn’t go as I hoped. And then something even better than I had hoped will happen. Something that I hadn’t even thought about of dreamed about. Listen to the signs.
I still love basketball. I haven’t been able to play much lately since my shoulder surgery, but I still love to throw up some shots at the gym. And I’m a diehard NBA fan! I’m thankful that things worked out the way they did as far as the dreams that I used to have for myself and basketball. Did something that disappointed you in your past turn out to be for the best? Shoutout to my brother @notmiketate for killing the as always.
